Try Your Hand at Stimulus – the Fun Way!

Recession 189 A big thanks to Tipster who provided this link to the Keynes Game - a game of political economy from Dreamscape.  It's very easy.  You have the variables to play around with – tax, spend and money supply.  Okay, so we don't have the option of manipulating Irish money supply; still, if you're a fan of quantitative easing, let rip.  Go to File and and press start game.  See if you can lower unemployment while keeping inflation and interest rates in check.  If successful, you get to be re-elected President.

I played around with a number of variables.  I managed to get re-elected and, in my wilder moments late at night, subjected the country to runaway inflation.

So have fun.

[And for you unreconstructed command economy socialists – try your hand the Bukharin Game – a game of economic planning.  But be warned, if you fail you won't just get 'de-elected'; you'll be tortured and sent to Siberia]

On a point of credit, I think the game is by Robert L. Vienneau, whose blog on economics (http://robertvienneau.blogspot.com/) I had stumbled across (and that the Dreamscape site happens to be where Robert Vienneau has a dollop of stuff.)
