Taking a Break

I will be taking a break for the next few days.  Which is unfortunate because there's so much great news running about the place:  recession in Japan, Bank of Ireland shares tanking (our bank CEOs are the only sentient beings in the Milky Way who don't think they need capitalisation), Minister Hanafin sending lone parents to work-camps, another weekend of pounding public sector workers; you wouldn't be short of material to discuss.

But, as always, there are some welcome voices.  One particular, if you missed it, was Tom O'Connor of the Cork Institute of Technology in the Irish Times this morning arguing for an expansionist stimulus package.  Anymore of these type of proposals and critiques and we might be in danger of breaking out into common sense.

I hope to be back on-line next Monday or Tuesday with my own 10-point programme for recovery.  I've been having a lot of fun making fun of proposals from right-wing politicians and stockbroker economists.  It's now, for me anyway, put-up-or-shut-up time.

Jaypers, your analysis is desperately needed if this morning’s lead story in the Irish Times is right.
